MapQuest, a leading location services company, today announced November 2004 results of consumer activity on its MapQuest.com “Find It” feature. The "Find It" functionality on MapQuest.com is a directory service that enables consumers to search for places, like a business by name or category for example, and then find directions and maps to get to that location.
The results included the most searched retailer locations in the United States from November 1 through November 30, 2004.
"People want the Internet to be an online version of their phone books packed with endless amounts of information -- and they are using services like MapQuest's ‘Find It’ feature to find places, then get there using our quality driving directions," said Tommy McGloin, Senior Vice President and General Manager of MapQuest.
"While not scientific by any means, we believe November’s results may be an indicator of the busiest retailers across America during this holiday season ," added McGloin.
The nation’s top searched shopping mall on MapQuest.com in November was The Mall of the America in Minneapolis, MN. If the Mall of the America was considered a stand-alone retailer, if would have ranked #7 on the above list.
