Online Mapping Organization Underscores Commitment to
Enhanced Consumer Experiences and Developer Relationships in 2011
DENVER – January 18, 2011 – MapQuest, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of AOL Inc. (NYSE: AOL), today announced Patrick McDevitt has been named vice president of engineering, joining the online mapping organization in a move to maximize growth potential. McDevitt will be located at MapQuest’s Denver office and will be responsible for managing an IT and engineering team charged with driving innovation around mapping and location-based services. Under his leadership, the team will tackle complex architecture plans to provide a better consumer experience.

McDevitt joins MapQuest following his tenure with TomTom, BV, where he served as the vice president of community mapping. McDevitt began his career at GDT (now TomTom) in 2000 as the director of engineering and went on to manage North American database operations. In 2006, he helped lead the integration of the GDT & Tele Atlas maps, and then moved to Belgium to become Tele Atlas’ global vice president of engineering. McDevitt returned to the U.S. in late 2009 and led the creation TomTom’s community management team. Prior positions include general manager, ISSI Consulting Group, and vice president and general manager, Environmental Research Information & Imaging Services (ERIIS). McDevitt is also a frequent speaker at industry events.
For more than a decade, MapQuest has delivered accurate maps and directions and has made great strides in establishing itself as a leading map service provider in the online mapping marketplace. In June 2010, MapQuest rolled out a new brand identity and user interface to provide better consumer experiences.
